Michelle works hard to stay current with changes in the law that might affect your case. She regularly attends legal seminars directly related to her practice areas. As part of her service to the state bar, she assisted with updates to the following Virginia State Bar publications: Divorce in Virginia (2018 revision), Financial Issues in Divorce (2019 revision) and Marriage in Virginia (2019 revision).

Michelle has lived in Virginia her entire life and in the Northern Shenandoah Valley for more than 20 years. She has been an active part of the local community where she practices law. She appears in courts in Winchester and the counties of Frederick, Clarke, Warren and Shenandoah.
Michelle has more than 25 years of court room and negotiating experience. She received her B.A. from the University of Virginia in 1989 and her law degree from the T.C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond in 1994. She has been licensed to practice law in Virginia since 1994.

In addition to her dedication to serving her clients and representing their legal interests, Michelle has a demonstrated commitment to service of her legal and local communities. She has been a member of the Family Law Section of the Virginia State Bar since she began practicing law in 1994 and served on its Board of Governors from 2016-2020. Michelle authored Rebutting Parental Presumption in Third Party Custody Cases, which appeared in the Summer 2018 issue of the Virginia Family Law Quarterly. She also helped plan and organize the 33rd Annual Advanced Family Law Seminar and the 36th Annual Family Law Seminar. She was editor of the Docket Call newsletter from 1998-2001, and co-editor of Lex Claudia in 2002. In addition to her Family Law Section membership, she is a member of the Wills, Trusts and Estates and Local Government Law Sections of the Virginia State Bar, the Winchester-Frederick County Bar Association (previous secretary), and the Clarke County Bar Association (elected chair in 2024). She was recognized by the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children with their Award of Merit on March 6, 2001.
Michelle has served as an appointed member of the Clarke County Conservation Easement Authority since 2014. She served on the Board of Directors of the Foundation of the State Arboretum at Blandy Farm from 2015-2021, where she chaired and co-chaired several committees, and she still volunteers with the FOSA Equestrian Committe when need

In the past, she has served as a director of the Clarke County Education Foundation, the Clarke County Rotary Club (Rotarian of the Year for 1999-2000 and Compass 2000 Award-winner), and the Winchester-Frederick County SPCA. In her spare time, she enjoys horseback riding, gardening and light hiking in the Northern Shenandoah Valley.
